The main properties and differences of nylon thread (=kapron) compared to polyester:
- nylon is slightly elastic, shiny and wear-resistant
- products sewn with nylon cannot be ironed
- nylon melts easily and a seam or knot can (and is recommended for products with high load resistance) be secured by melting
Strong and coarse nylon threads are suitable for:
- for quilting seams on leather, artificial leather, upholstery, etc
- for making shoes and bags
- for sewing tents, awnings, boat covers,
- for powerful manual sewing,
- for repairing fishing nets and making fishing accessories
- for making jewelry
